ServiceBox build assembly in Vietnam
Box build (systems integration) is the full assembly of a finished electronic product: PCBA, enclosure, cables, displays, power supply and final test, packed as a unit ready to ship. Send one RFQ and we match it with up to 3 Vietnamese factories that build at your scope, within 24 business hours.
Four levels of box build and what each needs from you
Box build is one step beyond bare PCBA and one step before consumer fulfilment. Tell us the level you need so factories quote the same scope.
| Level | What the factory typically does | What you supply |
|---|---|---|
| PCBA + enclosure | Assembles boards, fits them into a plastic or sheet-metal housing, basic power-on test | BOM, Gerbers, enclosure drawings |
| Sub-system build | Adds cables, harnesses, displays, speakers, antennas and sensors as sub-assemblies | Harness drawings, approved parts list |
| Full box build | Complete unit: all modules, firmware load, functional test, burn-in, labels | Test spec, firmware, label artwork |
| Box build + fulfilment prep | Retail packaging, manuals, serialisation, country-of-origin marking, export documents | Packaging spec, Incoterm, destination |
What Vietnamese box build factories typically cover
PCBA and enclosure integration
- SMT and through-hole PCBA, typically built to IPC-A-610 Class 2
- Plastic injection or sheet-metal enclosures
- Conformal coating and potting where required
- Mechanical fit verification before scale-up
Cable, wire harness and display
- Custom cable assemblies with crimp and connector matching
- Wire harness routing and labelling
- LCD, OLED and touch panel integration
- Speaker, antenna and sensor sub-assembly
Final test and calibration
- Functional test fixtures designed per product
- Burn-in cycles for power and thermal validation
- Calibration data logging with serial number tracking
- FCC, CE and RoHS pre-compliance test support
Packaging, logistics and compliance
- Retail-ready printed boxes, inserts and manuals
- Country-of-origin marking and compliance labels
- Freight forwarding to the US, EU, Japan and Australia
- HS code classification and customs documentation
Indicative lead times and order sizes
These are typical market ranges for planning, not quotes. Each matched factory confirms its own schedule and minimum order against your RFQ.
| Stage | Indicative range |
|---|---|
| Quote after complete RFQ | Typically 3 to 10 working days |
| First samples after parts are in hand | Typically 2 to 4 weeks |
| Production after sample approval (500 to 10,000 units) | Typically 4 to 8 weeks |
| Long-lead components | Can add 8 to 20+ weeks |
| Order size accepted | From about 100 units up to 50,000+ units per month at larger plants |
Typical box build products
- IoT gateways, smart-home hubs and Wi-Fi mesh nodes
- Industrial controllers, PLC enclosures and edge gateways
- Consumer audio: speakers, soundbars and headphones
- Battery-powered devices: trackers, wearables and scanners
- Display modules: digital signage, kiosks and POS terminals
- Medical-adjacent (non-FDA) wellness and fitness devices
Where you can start
- Concept / no prototype yet
- Working prototype
- Pre-production / DFM done
- Already in production elsewhere
At concept or prototype stage, ask for DFM feedback before committing to a build. Design issues found at the sample stage cost far less than issues found in mass production.
Box build questions
What is the difference between PCBA and box build?
PCBA is the populated circuit board. Box build takes one or more PCBAs and integrates them with the enclosure, cables, displays, power supply and other parts, then tests and packs the finished product. A box build RFQ therefore needs mechanical, cable and test information in addition to the BOM and Gerbers.
Can one Vietnamese factory handle PCBA, enclosure and cables?
Many box build factories run SMT lines, cable assembly and final assembly in-house and buy enclosures from nearby molding or sheet-metal shops they manage. When you tick the scope items in the RFQ, we match factories that cover them, and say which parts they would subcontract.
How long does a box build take in Vietnam?
Indicatively, 2 to 4 weeks for first samples once parts are available and 4 to 8 weeks for production runs of 500 to 10,000 units after sample approval. Long-lead components and new enclosure tooling usually set the real schedule, so ask every factory for a dated plan.
Do you manage the production for me?
No. boxbuildvn.com is a matching service. We match your RFQ with up to 3 factories and you work with them directly on quotes, samples, contracts and quality. If you want independent inspection, you can hire a third-party inspection company.
